About Bavarian Beerhouse
The U.K’s only authentic Bavarian restaurant, the Bavarian Beerhouse on City Road on the Islington/City borders celebrates good German beer and classic German food in a genuine cellar atmosphere with wooden benches and tables aimed at parties rather than intimate dinners. Main courses include Leberkäs – Meat loaf served with Bratkartoffeln (pan fried potatoes) and topped with a fried egg; Kartoffelpuffer –Bavarian Potato Pancakes, fried and served with herbal dips and mixed fresh salad; and for spicy sausage lovers, there’s the Special Bavarian Beerhouse Wurstplatte with Spiral sausage (Bratwurst Schnecke), Merguez spicy sausage, Cheese cracker Sausage (Kaeseknacker) served with mashed potatos, sauerkraut and mustard. Surprising many, Bavaria appears to be quite veggie-friendly with local specialities such as Obazda Cheese on the menu. Look out for Monday’s Schnitzel Madness Night at the Bavarian Beerhouse to get your favourite Schnitzel and a half stein of beer, and Tuesday night is when groups of 30 or more tuck into a whole Bavarian suckling pig roast! It’s no surprise though that the place comes into its own during Oktoberfest when dirndl-clad waitresses serve foaming steins of beer to an oompah beat.
