With a new design, new spaces, a fresh new menu and a fabulous location, the Athenaeum in London has been transformed with a glamorous, contemporary new look without skimping on the attention to detail. The familiar faces of long-serving staff help create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere – the perfect ingredients for a great London dining experience. The a la carte menu includes some superb selections of imaginative British cooking with dishes such as poached duck eggs wrapped in pancetta with a ragout of lentils and roast shallots or pot roast loin of veal with mushrooms, goose liver and mead sauce cocotte potatoes. The carving trolley is particularly popular where roast organic South Down lamb or roast beef is served in traditional style, while the larder at lunchtime is a sumptuous buffet of seafood, cured meats and salads and is well worth a visit if you need to refuel whilst out shopping or sightseeing in the surrounding area.
